At any time, there is a current project that you can edit in install4j's main window. When
starting up install4j, an empty project is created. If you have a project loaded
and want to create a new project, you can do so by

choosing Project->New project (
CTRL-N) from install4j's main menu bar. -
clicking on the corresponding
tool bar button.
If the current project has not been saved, install4j will ask you if you want to save the modified project or if you would like to discard your modifications.

You can save a modified project to disk at any time by

tool bar button.
A new project does not have an associated file path. The first time you save a new project, install4j will ask you for a file path to save the project to. The name of the file (without the extension) will then be displayed in the title bar. If the current project has not been modified, the "save" action will not be available.
If you would like to save your project under a different name, choose Project->Save project as from install4j's main menu bar. The new name will then be shown in install4j's title bar and the chosen file path will be used for subsequent save operations.

You can open a saved project file at any time by

CTRL-O) from install4j's main menu bar. -
clicking on the corresponding
tool bar button.
- choosing one of the recently saved project files from the Project->Reopen submenu. The last 10 projects will be displayed in this menu in the order of their opening. To clear the list of recently opened projects, choose Project->Reopen->Clear list.
If the current project has not been saved, install4j will ask you if you want to save the modified project or if you would like to discard your modifications.
